In Which I Saw Jurassic World!

This is not a review, just me talking about my opinion on the movie. There are NO SPOILERS in this post!

So last night I took an impromptu opportunity to go see Jurassic World. Now, I’m not going to lie, I haven’t seen any of the Jurassic Park movies apart from clips here and there from each movie, but never one in its entirety–that I can remember anyway!

Can I first off say how terrifying, but so frickin’ cool this movie was?!? I can believe how violent and gory it was. A friend of mine, who has seen the Jurassic Park movies, said that this was extremely violent in comparison! And the CGI rocked in it too! I couldn’t tell when/if they were using props compared to CGI.

Can we talk about Chris Pratt for a minute. He was so awesome, he’s good-looking, and he’s funny to top it all off. I mean, this movie was crazy at parts, yet they somehow managed to slip in little lines here and there that had you chuckling in between shouting out in fright (which several others in the theatre, including myself did do).

I also loved Pratt’s relationship he had with the four raptors, Blue (Beta), Charlie, Delta and Echo, who by the end of the movie I ended up growing attached to them myself. I could tell you why and reasons therefore, but I don’t want to spoil the movie for anyone, if they haven’t seen it yet. I’m going to top this all off my saying how great the ending was–I genuinely wasn’t expecting it to go down that way, and that was an awesome dino-cameo at the end, again no spoilers!

The one downside to the movie I’d say was casting. Chris Pratt was amazing, and made the film great, but the others not so much. I had no feelings/interest/attachment to Chris’s love interest, the kids were okay-ish, the older kid needs to go to more acting classes, and the control room in the Jurassic World was just an amalgamation of “guest starring that female officer from season 1 of Orange is the New Black” and “guest starring that guy from New Girl”. Also, the “bad guy” wasn’t bad-guy enough! He needed just a bit more spunk. And as for the Indominous Rex, well, he terrified the pants off of not only me, but the little 7-year-old kid sat next to me in the theatre!

So in conclusion, I guess I really liked the movie! If this were a review, and I were to give this movie a rating, I suppose I would have to give this a 4/5!

Have you seen Jurassic World yet? I’d love to know what you thought of the movie!

  1. I liked it. Not as much as the original, but it was definitely fun. Wasn’t a big fan of the Indomitus Rex though. Kept revealing abilities that it used one time and that was it. Not much else I can say without spoilers for both this movie and the original.
