From actress, comedian and YouTube sensation Lilly Singh (aka Superwoman) comes the definitive guide to being a BAWSE – a person who exudes confidence, reaches goals, gets hurt efficiently, and smiles genuinely because they’ve fought through it all and made it out the other side.
Told in her hilarious, bold voice that’s inspired over 9 million fans, and using stories from her own life to illustrate her message, Lilly proves that there are no shortcuts to success.
WARNING: This book does NOT include hopeful thoughts, lucky charms, and cute quotes. That’s because success, happiness and everything else you want in life needs to be fought for – not wished for. In Lilly’s world, there are no escalators. Only stairs.
For those of you who don’t know, Lilly Singh (aka iiSuperwomanii) is my favourite person on the internet. She is by far my favourite YouTuber and is one of few YouTubers who I can hand-on-heart say I watch on their videos on a daily basis, whether its one of her main channel videos or a daily vlog–sometimes both! I first stumbled upon Lilly’s videos back about 2 or 3 years ago while watching another YouTuber, and Lilly was collaborating with them. Since then I have watched almost every single one of Lilly’s videos to date.
I was over the moon when I heard that Lilly was going to be writing a book, and even more excited when I got my hands on the book itself. I initially ordered my copy online, and was very disappointed to find that it wasn’t a signed copy when it arrived. Fast forward a few days later, I’m in one of my local bookstores, and low-and-behold they have signed copies–so I grab myself one, and I kindly gifted my first copy that I bought online to a friend. Gotta spread the word!
Lilly is one of the most inspiring and motivating people I’ve ever come across, and I have to admit, when I find myself going into a creative slump, I find myself turning to her videos to help me out and get me going again. I don’t know what it is about her spirit and her energy, but there’s just something there that seems to be able to give me a good kick up the ass whenever I need it, and her book seems to have done just that for me once again. Her style is very much (as mentioned in her book) unapologetic. If you’re easily offended then, well pull up your socks and prepare to be offended, because there isn’t one type of person who’ll read this book that won’t get a piece of her mind. There were a couple of times when I found myself being the person in the scenario she would be describing, and having to go “Oh, shit–that’s me!”, and on several occasions too!
There’s not much to say than you need this book in your life if you’re looking for some epic motivation in your life. If you’re looking for that kick up the ass, or just need a reason to that thing you’ve been putting off for the last few months. I also find myself time and time again going back to this video here, if you’re ever super stuck and need 5 Minutes of Epic Motivation:
